Hello everybody!

Welcome to my website and my first blog post.

Actually, this is not my first blog rodeo. I had a monthly blog years ago that I called Remedial Thinking where I made fun of things that were happening in the world. Mostly, I made fun of myself. I’m pretty good at that. It’s called “self-depreciating humor.” Trust me, if you were me, you’d make fun of yourself too.

I’ve decided to keep that tradition and call this blog Remedial Thinking. I’ll post once a month and hopefully, be funny enough to keep you coming back. You can also follow me on social media by clicking on the little Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok icons.

I’m also going to give updates on my writing journey. See the Why I Write section for the full story. Get ready… here’s a shameless plug for my first book, Readings, Writings, and Ramblings. A collection of personal essays (taken from my old blog), silly poetry, and humorous short stories. You can purchase my book at the link on the landing page that says Purchase on Amazon.com.

Readings, Writings, and Ramblings also has two chapters from the full-length novel I am working on called The Faceless Man. All stories, good ones anyway, have three parts: Beginning, Middle, and End. Or, Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. Full disclosure… the chapters were meant to be the first two chapters of the novel, but I have re-written Part 1, so those are NOT the first two chapters. They are the beginning of Part 2. It will still give you a good idea of what my novel is about. As far as genre goes, it’s a Vigilante Justice Thriller set in Cincinnati. But, at the heart of the story, it’s so much more. The Faceless Man is about commitment, courage, family, regret, loss, and love.

I’m currently around 45,000 words and shooting for somewhere between 90-100K. I had hoped to have the novel ready to publish by the end of this year (2023). But unfortunately, that did not happen. Rest assured, The Faceless Man will be published in 2024

Now, let’s talk about this website. You may see a pop-up that asks you to input your email address so you can sign up for my monthly newsletter. There are still a few bugs in that feature, so if you sign up and don’t get a notice welcoming you to my newsletter, don’t cry. My crack website technicians are diligently working to fix that. My goal is for everyone who signs up for my newsletter to receive a free short story titled Domesticated, staring Joe Cooper, a private detective based right here in Dayton, Ohio.

Joe Cooper, a former K9 cop with a unique ability to solve crimes, will star in a Comic-Detective series, starting with Dog Days. I’m really looking forward to starting that book after I finish The Faceless Man. Joe is quite the character, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading about him and his exploits.

On a personal note, I turn 60-years old on December 23rd and I’m planning on celebrating that with my two sons and their families in Las Vegas, Nevada where they live. If 60 is the new. 50, then how come I feel like I’m 80 when I get up every morning?

That’s all I have for now. Again, I want to thank you for visiting my website and reading my blog. I hope you all have a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year!

Ron
